Two-Year Pre-Kindy and Kindergarten Program

TAS Early Learning Centres (ELC) are located at both the TAS White Rock and TAS Kewarra Beach campuses, where children explore vast learning opportunities.

The centres offer full-time places only and operate Monday to Friday, from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, for 50 weeks of the year. Pre-Kindy and Kindergarten is a two-year program, which consists of:

  • 1-year Pre-Kindy Program
Pre-Kindy is the entry point into the TAS Early Learning Centre and allows children an additional year to develop fundamental social-emotional, language, and cognitive skills needed for Kindergarten and beyond.
  • 1-year Kindergarten Program
Following Pre-Kindy, children enter our registered Queensland Kindergarten program where curriculum is underpinned by five key areas of essential learning:
    • IDENTITY:聽Children build a strong sense of identity through connections.
    • CONNECTEDNESS:聽Children feel connected to the world around them and actively seek to contribute to their world.
    • WELLBEING:聽Children have a positive sense of wellbeing, including physical and mental health, personal safety and successful social functioning.
    • ACTIVE LEARNING:聽Encouraging children to be confident, engaged and involved.
    • COMMUNICATING:聽Building fundamental skills for communication.

All TAS ELC programs align with Australia鈥檚 Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), the national guideline for Early Childhood Education.

Our TAS Early Learning Centres at White Rock and Kewarra Beach have been rated as Exceeding National Quality Standards, under the National Quality Framework. The National Quality Standard (NQS) sets a national benchmark for the quality of children鈥檚 education and care services across Australia. An overall rating of Exceeding NQS is one of the highest National Quality Standard ratings a service can receive.

Our Educators

Our team of dedicated staff and qualified educators view school readiness as a holistic objective, and the early years are seen as a valuable opportunity to instil a lifelong love of learning.

In the Pre-Kindy, our full-time educators see their role as an extension of your family, working in partnership with you to ensure your child is not only a confident learner but also ready for their transition to Kindergarten. Our Kindergarten program is led by teachers who are responsible for integrating the Australian Government-approved curriculum into learning contexts.

Learning Contexts
亚洲成人网 Integration
From Kindergarten onwards, children benefit from the extensive resources of the integrated Primary 亚洲成人网. At the end of their two-year program, this approach can prepare them for the transition to Prep, by building a sense of belonging and security.
Learning with Technology
In Kindergarten, technology is an embedded part of the curriculum. In line with the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG), children鈥檚 engagement with technology includes the use of iPads or interactive-whiteboards to create visual representations and explore topics of interest.
Learning in Nature
Children explore many natural resources and environments to develop social, emotional and cognitive skills. Our dynamic indoor-outdoor learning spaces promote stimulation, variety, open-ended interactions, spontaneity, risk-taking, discovery and connection with nature by exposing children to different textures, weights, sounds and smells.
Inquiry-based Learning
Inquiry-based learning is integrated when educators introduce questions like "I wonder..." during learning, or when children start to utilise loose parts to create and build visual representations of their imaginations. It encourages critical thinking and creativity, as well as social interaction and active information gathering.
Enrichment Opportunities

When children enter Kindergarten, they can participate in an exciting range of Co-Curricular Programs during their day, including:

  • LIBRARY: Weekly visits to the school library where they learn how the library operates, listen to stories and have the chance to borrow a book for the week.
  • BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS: Our educators ensure each child gets the opportunity to share the excitement of their birthday with their friends and teachers.
  • SPORTS: Children turning five within the year are encouraged to explore their athletic capabilities by joining entry-level TAS Sports clubs such as Aquatics, Football, Netball and Hockey.
  • INCURSIONS AND EXCURSIONS: Incursions and excursions are an extra learning tool to enhance the curriculum by allowing children to better grasp and retain concepts 鈥 learning by doing. They also promote engagement levels, build confidence, encourage teamwork and create connections.
Communication with Families

Our Centre honours an open-door policy that invites parents to discuss their child鈥檚 learning progression, challenges or worries whenever necessary. Here are three ways we communicate with families:

  • Families participate in parent-teacher interviews regularly.
  • Teachers and educators log a story each day on a mobile app called 鈥楽tory Park鈥. This is where parents can monitor the progression of their child鈥檚 learning and understand what their child does each day.
  • Our Centre provides a portfolio for each child that contains their unique work, progression of learning, goals, observations and evaluations from Kindergarten educators. Parents are encouraged to reflect on their child鈥檚 portfolio, make comments and contribute recommendations.
